Two European Champions from the Mammut Team

The European Championship (Lead and Speed climbing) took place from July 10 to 12 in Chamonix (FRA). This was a special event as it is also one of the eight competitions in the IFSC Climbing World Cup.

Jessica Pilz (in the center) from the Mammut Team Austria climbed her way up to third place on the women's podium in the Lead category. In combination with her result from the European Bouldering Championship in Innsbruck (5th), this her to claim first place in the combined European Championship. The Austrian Mammut Pro Team athlete Jakob Schubert finished sixth in the Lead category in Chamonix, and first in bouldering in Innsbruck, also earning him the gold medal for the combined title. A huge "well done" to these two European Champions!

The action continued the following weekend (July 18) with the Lead category of the IFSC Climbing World Cup in Briançon (FRA). Austria's Jakob Schubert finished in an excellent third place, closely followed by fellow Mammut Pro Team member Sean McColl in fifth place.

Austria's Jessica Pilz is going from strength to strength, with a superb second place in the women's category. She was followed by a new arrival on the women's World Championship scene, Mathilde Becerra, who claimed a very well-deserved fourth place in her first World Cup.
